What a finder actually sees when they tap your tag
The person who finds your item is a stranger, and they are doing you a favour. So LochTags asks nothing of them: no app, no account, no sign-up. They tap the tag with any phone, or type the 7-character code printed on it, and they get one secure page for that one tag. They never see your name, phone number, email or address. You get an email within seconds, and you decide what to share next.
One thing to be clear about: LochTags is a return tag, not a location tracker. There is no GPS and no Bluetooth, and the tag does not broadcast. It does nothing at all until a person who has your item taps it or types the code. It is built to help a stranger get your item back to you, not to help you find it yourself.

They hold their phone to the tag — iPhone 7 ou mais recente (iOS 13+), or most NFC Androids — and a page opens in their browser. If tapping is not an option, they type the 7-character code printed on the tag at lochtags.com/find. No app, either way, and no account.

A secure page opens for that one tag

They send you a message through the page. You get an email within seconds. You decide what to share nextthe conversation only opens as far as you want it to.
Two ways home
Every LochTags tag can be reached two ways: the finder taps o chip NFC, ou they type the unique 7-character code printed on the tag. That redundancy matters, the printed code still works even if the chip is ever damaged, and it means a finder whose phone has NFC switched off is not stuck. No app. No battery. No required subscription.
The chip itself holds only a short unique code. No personal information is written to the tag. Your details live in your LochTags account, so you can change them at any time without reprogramming or replacing the tag.

Common questions

Which phones can tap a LochTags tag?
