Will it work with the finder’s phone?

Short answer: yes. And if the tap does not work, the printed code always does.

  • iPhone 7 أو أحدث (iOS 13): hold the top of the phone against the tag. NFC reading is built in, with no app and no setting to change.
  • Most NFC Android phones: hold the tag against the middle or upper back of the phone.
  • Any phone at all, NFC or not: type the tag’s unique 7-character code at lochtags.com/find in any browser. No camera, no app, no account.

Test it in 60 seconds: tap your own tag with your own phone before you travel and confirm your finder page opens, then type the printed code at lochtags.com/find and confirm it opens the same page. If the tap does not register, move the phone slowly across the tag, since the read spot varies by handset, and use the printed code in the meantime. Because the code is printed on the NTAG216 inlay and sealed inside the tag body, it keeps working even if the chip is ever damaged.

Yes. The شريحة NXP NTAG216 is sealed in a hard epoxy coating, so it is waterproof and built to take daily knocks, and it is rated for 100,000+ taps. The 7-character backup code is printed onto the NTAG216 inlay itself and then encapsulated inside the tag's hard epoxy body (about 4 mm thick), so it is sealed in rather than marked on the outside. It cannot scuff off in a pocket or on a collar the way a surface-printed tag can.
